Who is looking after your children when they are not under your supervision?
You would say that at school, teachers are the responsible ones, and that at home you have a responsible nanny.
After all, you believe that, when you are not around, somebody else keeps one eye on them.
You have your family and friends, apart from the people you employ. Nonetheless, there is also an invisible protection that looks after your children.
You can call it their guardian angels, their good angel. Actually, the name we give them is not important.
What really matters is the conviction that an invisible being has its attention turned to your children; it does not matter where they are.
They look after you as well. It is not just a theory to comfort the mothers who are away from their children for long hours.
Or to the ones who walk alone on the roads of this World. We are talking about a real fact mankind has long realized.
Remember the antique engravings which show children crossing badly shaped bridges under the attentive look of a celestial messenger.
We could also evoke the Biblical Book of Tobias, when a youngster is accompanied by an angel during his long itinerary, bringing him back to his watchful father, safe and sound.
It is sweet and enchanting to know that each one of us has a guardian angel. A being that is superior to us, who accompanies us and protect us.
It is him who whispers in our ears: Slow down! Calm down! Wait!
Some other times, he encourages us saying: Go ahead! Make an effort! I am with you!
It is this being who helps us climb the mountain of goodness. A dedicated and sincere friend, who stays next to us as God ordered him to do.
It was God who sent him, and he stays there for his love towards God, undertaking the beautiful but tough mission.
In countless occasions, he gives us advice, suggesting things we avoid listening to. He becomes sad then, knowing that soon we might suffer because of our rebel attitude.
But he does not go against our free-will. He keeps distance for a while, trying again next time.
His actions are always ruled, because if we were simply guided by him, we would not be responsible for our acts.
We would not progress either, if we did not have to think, reflect and make decisions.
The fact that we cannot see them is also providential. Not being able to see who helps us, we trust our own power.
So we fight, perform and struggle to reach the objectives we desire.
It does not matter where we are: in jail, in hospital, in vicious places or in solitude, he will always be present.
This silent and friendly angel accompanies us from birth to death, and, many times, during our spiritual lives too.
He makes us company even through many corporeal existences, which are very short periods of the Spirit’s life.

You might have been gone astray during some time. Maybe you have even lost control of your own pace.
Think, however, that a missionary of truth and goodness, who is responsible for you, for your guard, stays vigilant.
If you wish, open the ears of your soul and listen to him, taking the luminous path again.
Nobody is totally lost in this huge universe of souls and men.
Think about it!
