Sometimes, people say they live very well without being connected to any belief. That they do not need religion.
And so, they do not attend any worship or temple, do not get involved in these issues, as they claim.
We note that, while everything goes well, life is lived in abundance. The job is guaranteed, the pay is good, family goes smoothly.
Children are in school, some have already achieved the joy of passing entrance exams and go to college.
However, life on Earth goes through phases. Nothing is perennial, even because we live in a world of transitory things. Thus, the health that today embraces us, tomorrow may have emigrated to distant resorts.
The loved ones who share the joys of home with us, may be the passengers who abandon the ship Earth, and, often, in a untimely, tragic way.
We are strolling calmly and an accident can hinder the freedom of physical movements, for the rest of our days.
We feel very well, enjoying the days with work, friends, leisure and, suddenly, a disease takes us by storm, filling with shadows the months to come.
When these issues occur and we do not enjoy the support of the faith in real life, on the immortality of the soul, the existence of a just and good God; when everything that was good becomes bad, as if it were an accumulation of what we call misfortunes, those of us who do not have the clarification of objectives of life on Earth, and lived as if there were an endless world, feel the ground disappear.
Then, despair becomes the constant company because we do not accept the separation of a loved one, enraptured by the shrew called death.
And, if we remember God, in these moments, is to complain, to be revolted, because the pain is huge, almost unbearable.
When we are surprised by diagnostics that tell us of imminent death, when we are restrained in our chances of wide freedom, everything becomes dark.
It is for these moments that religion is important. The religion that clarifies that we were all created by the love of a God Father, all justice and mercy.
That we are Spirits in transit in a carnal body, with counted days on the face of the planet. That our goal is to make progress and that, for that, we have pains and difficulties, that test our fortress.
It is in these moments that the prayer, which we learned to pronounce, in praise and gratitude to this Father, becomes supplication.
Our dialogue with Him is not of revolt or rebellion, it is the talk of the son with the Father, asking for strength.
Aware that each one is given according to his works, we are sure that there is a serious reason for the suffering involving us, in whatever form it appears.
That is the use of religion. One that explains why we find ourselves on this planet, that our stay here is temporary, that soon we will enter, again, the spiritual world, where we came from.
And, then, we will attenuate the nostalgia in reunion with all the loved ones who have gone before. And also there we will arrive with the palm of victory of who knew how to beat pain, sickness and death, with the honor of the confident child.
Think about it and thank God the blessing of faith that leads us on a daily basis and the religion that brightens the conscience.
