ícone The rich vigilant

The desire to be rich is quite common.

It usually originates from selfishness and the desire to enjoy the goods of the world in a lazy and indulging way.

But there are those who justify it with the idea of giving comfort and security for their loved ones.

In respect to this so common dream, there is an enlightening narrative.

It is said that an honorable man perked himself up with the purpose of getting rich for the benefit of his family.

Distressed to achieve his goal, he became involved in several companies.

For twenty consecutive years, he earned and saved money after money, creating assets of a few millions.

When he was satisfied, he recognized that every aspect of his life had changed.

His home, previously simple and joyful, acquired a dark appearance.

His wife had become a slave to thousands of obligations solely to kill time.

The children were whispering among themselves about the legacy that his father's death would leave them.

His neighbors, believing him to be completely happy, surrounded him with envy and scorn.

Traders would visit him all the time, offering him unreasonable and criminal transactions.

When at his presence, his employees would adulate him with clear disguise.

Because of all the disturbances, he was compelled to turn his residence into a fortress.

He now had more than enough time to record the increasing diseases of his body.

Within weeks of observation, he concluded that the fortune locked in a safe was the source of endless crises.

From there on, he began to unleash his enormous reserves.

Next to him, his friends and neighbors came to have the blessings of service and good heart.

Since the first sign of such renewal, his wife looked at him with surprise and anger.

His children hated him and the beneficiaries themselves judged him insane.

However, the vigilant millionaire started to have an open and cheerful sanctuary at his home.

This picturesque story symbolizes the need for balance in life, especially when it comes to material goods.

All the wealth that flows, as the crystal clear water of a fountain, is a living blessing.

But the wealth in useless idle state becomes a poisonous well of stagnant water.

There is no logic in wanting an entire river, when a simple glass of water can quench the thirst.

The world's goods are instruments and not the purpose of existence.

Whatever the state of a man, he faces problems and challenges.

In search of increasingly broader wealth, it does not pay to forget the essence of existence.

Family, friends and your own dignity are the most important treasures that you can get.

Think about it.
