ícone Building cathedrals

The beautiful cathedrals in Europe are without a doubt a great architectural legacy to Humanity.

They have won the skies, winning the technological challenges and the construction capabilities of an era, without the current knowledge of Civil Engineering, without the aid of advanced mathematical calculations, with no computer resources or any other technological apparatus.

Their huge towers tearing the skies, their embroidered stone walls, and their  stained glasses filtering the colors of the sun's rays passing through make them immense beauty in the landscape of old cities.

But for all of them, if you try to find out who their builders were, there are immense difficulties. These constructions took centuries to be finished. And the work of many, who dedicated their lives to build them, got lost in time.

The sacrifices to build these huge ships, winning the centuries with pride and beauty, got lost in History.

Since the construction lasted more than a life time, it were the lives of many that were added so these temples would get form, in and anonymous and unknown work.

What happens with us on our journey is not different. Many of our sacrifices and efforts go unnoticed by all.

Few people realize the anonymous work of a mother at home, preparing meals, mending clothes, sewing buttons or ironing shirts, so that children and spouse will look neat.

No one realizes how many times someone is silent so a discussion does not get unwanted proportions. Or when the night comes and one watches the sleep of a sick person.

Good deeds get lost in obscurity like when, even without time, we put ourselves available to listen to someone, to give our turn to somebody else in line, or do someone a favor.

A few recognize the long hours of work of the teacher correcting texts and papers, all night long, so they get to know their students more closely, understanding their minds and souls to better collaborate with their education.

However, God is watching. He notices our intentions and understands that all these actions contribute to building our own inner cathedral.

So, do never feel discouraged by the non-recognition of society or our family to what we do.

Let us work and live offering the best we have in our family, professional, and social life.

It is true that we often create expectations that someone will recognize and value what we do.

But even if no one does, our work will still never be anonymous.

After all, it is God who cares for us and sees all our actions to erect the cathedral of virtues and noble values in our intimacy.

Like for the cathedral builders, a lifetime of sacrifices will be valid if we think that God is always watching what we do.
