ícone God and the trials

Many people wonder:

What evil have I done to God to deserve so much punishment?

Have I come to the world just to suffer?

Questions asked with the voice of despair, depression, anger, making clear the lack of the indispensable understanding of the working of Divine Laws on Earth.

We have created a God in our image and likeness, picturing Him as vengeful, cruel, tyrant.

We have forgotten about the God the Father, loving, caring, presented by Jesus.

We do not remember God the Supreme Intelligence, God sovereignly just and good, unveiled by the Doctrine of the Spirits.

No one suffers on Earth as an outcome of divine punishment.

What has been conventionally called divine punishment is, in fact, the manifestation of God's love for His children.

This is the love that grants them new opportunities to relearn, to reflect and to work towards self-redemption.

However, no soul on the planet is cast aside from celestial deliberations.

So, all who inhabit the Earth today are here for ponderable reasons, and even though they cannot see such reasons, they do not stop existing.

It will, then, be important to be aware that everything we suffer during corporeal life has a serious aim before the Laws of our Father.

The effort for maturing of intellect and moral sense is up to us, so that we start to reflect better on the action of God in our trial field.

Trials are not manifestations of a cruel, provocative God, as the immature thoughts can still believe.

Trials are experiences called for or accepted by us, which have as goal providing spiritual growth.

And atonements are nothing but us making up for the Laws we have contravened.

If I take something out of its place - I generate the consequence of putting it back in its original location.

If I damage, hurt, break something, I consequently generate the obligation, which is only mine, to repair, heal and restore.

Those are Divine Laws' mechanisms which seek to keep us from falling into mistake, from treading paths that apart us from our major goals.

In the Laws of God we will always find mechanisms of education, and never those of hate, vengeance and punishment in itself.

Surely we will be scared in discovering that the pinpricks of life, pain, tragedy and discomfort, in their vast majority, are caused by ourselves, here in this incarnation.

Yes, as a rule, afflictions with a present lifetime cause are in a greater deal.

This shows us that we can reduce a great part of our suffering, if we take strong actions in relation to our attitude towards the World.

God gives us the means to achieve it, since, besides not wishing us harm, He wants our happiness, our spiritual maturity.

In The Spirits' Book, Allan Kardec classifies the causes of our afflictions into two categories.

He and the Spirits explain that we have vicissitudes with current causes, i.e., natural consequences of character and acting of those who support them.

And we also have those of previous causes, which are the pains that have no cause in this lifetime.

They clarify that if the causes are not in the current incarnation of the soul, they are in the past, in other lives.
