Sublime Friend!
This Christmas day, we wish to honor Your celestial figure.
In our human pettiness, we idealize profane parties which, instead of praising You, sometimes violate the message You came to bring us.
Celestial Child!
You made Yourself so small to serve men and we believed ourselves to be carriers of greatness and wisdom.
You left the stars and came to live among us.
We live on Earth and believe we hold all power.
We have come to this Christmas somewhat tired. The previous days were very exhausting.
We had to see prices, do some calculations and take loans, select the friends who will receive our gifts.
And naturally we dismissed those who are not benevolent to our hearts.
We disdain those we do not appreciate, those who disappointed us and who we wish to displease.
Oh, Celestial Child! How far are we from celebrating Your birth as we should.
We have forgotten to invite You to the celebration and to prepare You a party.
We have prepared it only for ourselves. The delicatessens are those most pleasing to us.
The choice of the best menu and the search for the best caterer also required some of our time. We even spent some time in the kitchen.
The beverages were selected with extra care. It is possible that some of them take us to unconsciousness or to commit foolish actions.
Our presents will serve to satiate our passions...
We have gone into debt for several months so that today there could be many presents.
And everything, everything will be for us.
Sweet Child!
When will we learn that the party must be Yours and Your wishes are the ones to be satisfied?
Thus, Jesus, this Christmas, allow us to awake.
Allow this Christmas to be the birth of our awakened conscience.
And so, Jesus, next Christmas, You will be the Sublime Honored one, the Celestial Guest we pay homage in the intimacy of our hearts.
The lights You will see then will be faintly representing the brightness of our minds and hearts, full of love.
Our table will be abundant, but not only ours. We would have thought of Your brothers'.
We will have smiles and exchange presents, but above all, we will have many hugs and reconciliations.
We will remember the message of forgiveness, humility and charity.
You will hear festive music coming from our cozy home, where our family will be waiting for Your honorable visit.
Jesus, how we wait for this Christmas!
