Work is a law for all planetary humanities.
From the most rudimentary being to the most angelical Spirits who guard the world’ destiny, each one executes their work, their share in this big universal concert.
Hard and tough for the inferior beings, the job alleviates as the Spirit purifies itself.
It becomes a source of joy for the superior Spirit, insensible to material attractions, exclusively occupied with higher studies.
It is through work that man tames the blind power of nature and preserves himself from misery.
It is through work that civilizations were formed, that well-being and science spread out.
Work is the honour and dignity of the human being. The idle one who takes advantage of other people’s work is nothing more than a parasite.
When man is occupied with his task, passions quiet down.
Idleness, on the contrary, instigates them, opening a very wide camp of action for them to be revealed.
Work is also a big comforter, it is a healthy preservative against our afflictions, against our sadness.
It calms the anguish of our Spirits and makes our intelligence more prolific.
There is no moral pain, deceptions or reverses which will not find relief in it.
There are no vicissitudes which resist its long-lasting action.
Work is always a secure refuge at times of probation, a true friend in times of tribulation.
Through work men get next to each other, they learn how to help each other, to unite themselves. To reach fraternity, it is only one step further.
When the Roman Empire dishonoured work, making a condition of slavery of it, it resulted in moral sterility and corruption.
Work is Divine Law, tied to the Law of progress. Through it, the perfection of beings is done.
Facing the necessities men suffer, in the World where they are living, they put into action their intelligence and it produces actions, improving their and the condition of many others.
That is how Technology keeps going ahead, Medicine brings, everyday, new and important discoveries to diminish the pain and to cure infirmities.
That is how surgical techniques are improved, how artefacts are created, everything aiming at the well-being of individuals, on the Earth where they are.
A problem comes up. Man thinks and creates something. Something which will, if not solve it, at least it will be eased.
Thinking about comfort and the desire for the beautiful, mankind creates new and conspicuous arquitetonic forms everyday, adorning the urban landscape.
Machines are at our disposition for the cultivation of the soil, the plantation, the harvesting with a minimum waste.
All that is work. Work of people who sweat their guts out, using physical force.
Also of the ones who make the laws, with the purpose of preserving life, the planet, with the intention of offering better conditions to Humanity.
Works, therefore, who uses strength, as well as who utilizes intelligence.
Uniting one to the other, we will reach progress much sooner.
And all that, thanks to the good Law of work. What would be of our days, without the blessing of work?
* * *
Work is life, the glory, the peace of Humanity.
Thus, let us look into the big problems, let us carefully study the nature and propagate science, spreading what consoles, animates and fortifies everywhere.
And that from one extremity of the World to another, united in a gigantic masterpiece, each one of us shall make an effort to contribute to the enrichment of Humanity’s material, intellectual and moral dominium.
