ícone Christ’s peace

I leave you peace, My peace I give you. I do not give it to you as the World does. That is how we find the register of Christ’s words in the book of John.

Peace is something eagerly searched by humanity, however, true shelter has not been found there yet.

One can affirm that since the most remote times men have been constantly fighting each other.

Whenever fights cease at one end of the planet, others get just as intense.

Man states his desire for peace, but even while discussing it, he is planning war.

That is why Jesus makes a difference between His peace and the world peace. World peace is ephemeral. It lasts exactly as long as people’s good-will.

Even when negotiating, when the nations involved in the conflict want to cease fire, what can be observed is diffidence and unwillingness.

World peace is made of conditions that must be respected, so that they it may last.

The peace Jesus talks about is unconditional and long lasting. It is a personal achievement, it must come from inside out.

Only a peaceful heart can externalize it, because, as the Nazarene Master said: The mouth speaks about what the heart is full of.

Human voice is full of vibrations. To hear intemperate language and inopportune exclamations is the same as being mentally hurt.

Besides being a waste of energy, useless discussions only foment disorder.

To speak in a moderate voice tone is a healthy exercise towards peace.

To learn to be quiet amongst the tumult is a contribution to peace.

To preserve the anonymous work, even when many desert and others look only for the compliments and applauses, is a preventive measure of peace.

The peace Jesus talked about is the one that knows how to shut the offences and rude attitudes out. It is the one that understands that the pain which cuts the skin of our souls is fair, as they are the results of our mistakes, even if very old ones.

Christ’s peace is the one that gives unmovable certainty in the superior spiritual power, and it does not get down before bad things, or even before just the rumours of bad things.

It is the one which offers a friendly hand to the offender, and translates itself into tranquility when fear is what dominates people, upon dark expectations and calamities which may come to happen.

Christ’s peace is the one of the right conscience which does not get impatient before unfavorable opinions of others, and works untiringly, building a shiny tomorrow.

* * *

The problem of peace is a question of fraternity, in all latitudes.

There cannot be peace as an imposition. Peace must be the reflection of general feelings, reached by the effect of enlightenment of consciences.
