Your strange speech still deserves our reflections. We spent a long time discussing Mathew and Luke´s notes. Were these the exact words spoken?

Next to You there were three Apostles. Those same ones who were with You in other moments of extraordinary importance, such as in the transfiguration on Mount Tabor, in the intimacy of Jairu´s house, calling his daughter to return to the physical body...

We wonder if those fearful ears were not mistaken, especially after the speeches You made during the paschal celebration.

Take this cup away from me!

The words bothered us, every time we read that You, the Ambassador of the heavens, the only perfect Being that Earth has known, had spoken them.

We remembered the martyrs who drenched the circus arenas with their blood. Your followers, who sang, while the famished beasts approached, swiftly, to attack them.

No fear in those who were slowly tortured by fire, scourged, crucified. They had only the firmness of faith and the certainty that they would gloriously enter the Spiritual world.

How to believe that the Shepherd, the Model and Guide, had weakened at the time of the testimony?

Scholars have thought of mistranslations and that the words would not be exactly those.

Then someone reminded us that You are the Planetary Governor. You are the Shepherd of this immense herd that populates the physical and Spiritual Earth. Billions of souls.

At that time there were not many of us, but You spoke to the Father of justice, mercy and kindness. And Your supplication was for that and all millennia after.

In addressing Him, we now understand, You did not ask for Thee, Moral Fortress.  You saw your surroundings and the future centuries.

You prayed for us, Your sheep. Take this cup away from me, was Your prayer for Humanity, Your flock because you glimpsed the future and all the pains that would reach us.

The result of our ignorance of the evil we sowed.

This is Your true request. You asked for us, those who transited on Earth and those who would come later.

You prayed to the Father so that the chalice of these pains would not reach us because you love us and whoever loves suffers with the suffering of the loved one.

However, You knew about our rescue, learning needs. Therefore You completed: Yet not My will, but Yours be done.

The Will of the Father, which You understood well by being the doer of it on Earth.

Now we understand You, Jesus, and more than ever, we recognize how much You love us, how much You care about us.

How many pains we could have avoided if our selfishness, our ambition, our foolishness were smaller!

In these pandemic days, mourning, deaths, we are sure that You continue to watch over us, praying for us.

Jesus, stay with us, in this sad time we live. Help us not to succumb to fear, to insecurity.

Strengthen us the flame of faith and send us the sun of hope.

Stay with us, Heavenly Shepherd.
