ícone The Master of subtleties

Subtlety means tenuity, finesse. It also means sharpness of intelligence, of spirit.

This is one of the traits we identify in the Master Jesus. The subtlety of saying things. Demanding, consequently, that those who listen should have the capacity for understanding.

In short: ears to hear.

Exactly by this detail is that the words of Jesus continue to be studied and discovered new and deeper meanings.

As we grow in understanding, we are better able to absorb the teaching of the letter.

Jesus is concise in his speech, deep in teaching.

He teaches solidarity, fraternity, in one sentence: Those who are healthy do not need a doctor, but those who are sick, do.

It thus affirmed the need to get rid of any prejudice and to meet those in need.

And the need may be of bread, water, shelter or clothing.

It can also be need of refuge, affection, attention.

Testifying of His greatness, He uses few but significant words.

On a Sabbath, when He passed through the fields, His disciples plucked the ears corn, and rubbed them with their hands, and ate them.

Seeing this, some Pharisees raised their voices, asking Jesus why they did so on a day not allowed, that is, on the Sabbath.

The Sabbath was the Day of the Lord. Sanctified.

Knowing the scriptures, Jesus reminds King David who, having no other food, served himself of the sacred loaves of the temple, of which only the priests could feed.

He speaks of the hunger of David and of those who were with him. And how they were satisfied.

Finally, He says: The son of man is Master even on the Sabbath.

He claimed, therefore, that He was the Lord of the World. World that He had idealized and prepared, according to Divine guidance, so that all His flock, the Humanity, could find shelter.

Planetary Governor. Lord even of the Sabbat. Lord of the World.

On another occasion, in a short sentence, He identified Himself as the Messiah, the Anointed, the Expected, who came to save the world.

Save the world from its ignorance, by explaining the Divine, natural and precise laws.

Save the world from evil, stating that all should love each other as brothers, because they are children of the same Father.

To love as He loves everyone.

It is I, he answers to the Samaritan woman who says she was awaiting the arrival of the Messiah. Me, I talk to you.

Master of subtleties. Master always.

Learn from me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and you shall find rest for your souls.

Learn from Him, model and guide.

How many paths do we still have to go until this invitation penetrates us and we understand that, by abandoning evil, we will have rest for our souls exhausted of violence, corruption and deviations?

Meek is the one who has the control and dominion over his temperament and attitudes, who has his own domain.

Humble is the one who recognizes his own smallness and is willing to study, to learn and to grow.

Master of subtleties. We follow Him. Let us accept His invitation.
