Maria Ines had no children.

Maria Inês has been a neonatal ICU nurse for twenty-four years.

She is the mother of a special form because, by her hands, by her care, it has already been over a thousand children.

The video prepared by an advertising agency to honor her surpassed five million views and the number continues rising.

In it, the auxiliary nurse tells, in details, the delicate and rewarding work she does, taking care of the babies as if they were her own children.

The premature baby is a baby that stays a long time in the hospital, and we end up creating a very big bond with the baby and the family. – She says.

I remember, one by one of those babies. – Safely states, browsing an album filled with pictures of her along with her temporary children, and saying the name of each one of them.

Some of them, she followed over the super delicate surgeries which they were submitted to, standing by their sides in these critical moments of the beginning of their existence.

Browsing the collection of pictures and memories she wonders: How was their first night at home? What was their childhood like? Is it a doctor, engineer, teacher? We miss them…

And when she least expected, through a gate it started to enter many people, coming towards her.

They were coming to hug her.

And each one of them introduced itself. She was recognizing, one by one, many of those who she took care of with so much love in their first seconds of life, in the neonatal ICU at the hospital.

A moment of extreme beauty and emotion. A moment that symbolizes the new world, the world that will celebrate much more the birth than the death, the creation than the destruction.

When we learn to give more value to nurses than to pop stars or fake celebrities that, often, without any merit, get the attention and the respect of many, we will demonstrate that we are starting to grow old as humanity.

For now, we are still in the childhood, or in a suffered preteen, of conflict, revolts, foolish and senseless wars.

For now, we seek to get out of this quagmire that we created ourselves, through many centuries of individualistic and materialistic behavior.

Stories like of this nurse move us, involve us, because they show a new relationship of the profession with the material gain.

Examples like this there are many. They are the ones who are already grown ups and come to extend their hands to the most staggering, offering one more opportunity.

Let us take advantage of the chances that life gives us. Let us learn from noble souls. Let us not waste an existence in searching of useless and sterile things as we have done in other times.

Love is the smoother and most powerful invitation that we receive daily. Let us accept it. Let us give ourselves to it.
