ícone Honesty is good

An unusual and inspiring scene in sports: a Kenyan athlete, Abel Mutai, gold medalist in 3,000 meters steeplechase and Olympic champion in London, was about to win one more race.

He entered a new section of the race and, as he thought he had crossed the finish line, started to greet the public, reducing the pace.

The second place, just behind, Ivan Fernandez Anaya, seeing that he was mistaken and was stopping ten meters before the finish line, did not want to take advantage to speed up and win.

He remained behind him, gesturing in order to make the Kenyan understand the situation, almost pushing him, taking him until the end, letting him win the deserved victory – as it was going to happen if he had not been mistaken about the route.

Ivan Fernandez Anaya, a young 24-year-old runner, who is considered an athlete with a great future, at the end of the race, said:

Even if they had told me that I would win a place in the Spanish Team to compete in the European Championship, I would have taken advantage. I think that it is better what I did than if I had won under these circumstances.

When will we start acting like this, in every situation of our lives?

When will we stop deceiving other people and deceiving our consciousness?

would we have acted that way, in a similar situation, or not?

Is it worth everything for a medal, for a result, for being proclaimed the best, the number one, on this or that?

Will it be worth everything to get a job, some extra money, a good deal? Is will it?

the virtue of honesty says no, it is not worth.

Acting like this we can have small and fake victories here and there, but we will continue being defeated souls, because we did not win the world and its intemperance, we did not win the old and vicious man inside us.

The important thing is winning ourselves, being in peace with our conscience.

It is not enough to live and survive. Quoting the great Socrates and his honesty, when it was proposed to him to escape the prison where he stayed until his death: The  important thing is not to live. The important thing is to live well.

We are here to learn to live well, to win when we are prepared to win, when we deserve the victory.

Participating in these low games of the world, these manipulations of mind, schemes, it is to remain small, it is to freeze the moral evolution of the Spirit.

Being honest is living the truth in all circumstances, the truth that, according to the Master, will let us free – let us free from the ignorance and the suffering.

A gesture of honesty goes very well.

It goes well at home, when we open our heart, when we do not wish to hide anything from anyone.

It goes well in our social relationships, when we act with justice, with probity, giving each one what is theirs rightfully, never admitting to pass someone behind.

It goes well in marriage, every time we honor the commitment with the other, never practicing something that we would not like them to practice with us.

It always goes well.

There will be a day in which honesty will not considered a virtue that needs to be conquered, because we will all be honest by nature.
