An insurance company has teamed with the government of South Korea to begin a specific advertising campaign, in one of the most important bridges of Seoul, the capital, which, thus, has transformed from the bridge of death to bridge of life.

South Korea is one of the countries with the highest suicide rate in the world, and the Mapo Bridge recorded an average of twenty-one deaths per year.

To solve the serious problem, the government studied two alternatives: building a wall or closing the bridge.

Until the appearance of a third alternative: carrying out a publicity campaign in favor of life, in such a way that messages would cause people to think twice, before taking the extreme measure of committing suicide.

The Insurance Broker Company created partnership with advertising, psychologists and activists for the prevention of suicide, so that inspiring phrases were created.

As a result, bright panels made of led with sensors were installed along more than two kilometers, making them glow as the passers-by walked over the bridge, allowing people to read phrases such as:

Go see the people you miss.

The best moments of your life are yet to come.

How would you like to be remembered?

The campaign began in September of 2012. By December of the same year, that is, in the period of three months, the rate of suicide in the bridge decreased 85% deserving the campaign the special award in the known Cannes International Film Festival.

Although the campaign may have had a commercial side, as some people said, considering the involvement of an insurance company, what emerges is the effect: many volunteered deaths were avoided.

And this is the most important thing: the demonstration that a human being is concerned about another human being, his brother.

Suicide is one of the most serious offenses that a human being can commit. It says, with this attitude, that despises the life that the Divinity conferred upon it and throws out the opportunity for individual growth.

Opposes the Supreme Creator, cutting, on a voluntary way, the wire of existence.

If you are about to attack against your own life, think for a moment: What is happening that makes you feed this desire?

If you have lost your love, job, a valuable opportunity, think that there is nothing better than waiting a little more, because everything passes.

The dark panel of hopelessness that shades your hours today, will soon dissipate.

Think that after the darkness of the night, it always comes the laughter of a radiant dawn. And, soon, the sun, the colors.

So, let the hours of the night to flow, wait for the grinning dawn and allow yourself live the first blush of a new day.

Everything changes rapidly: the weather, the situations, the difficulties, the problems.

Wait for tomorrow, confident. Do not abandon life today. Hope is found in the window, smiling, waiting for your eyes.

Think about it. Life, as rude as it can be, deserves to be lived in its fullness, a gift from the loving and good Father.
