ícone What is it worth?

In the world we live in, we value material things too much. Our aspirations spin around our professional rise, our profits, investment funds and the stock market.

We exhaust ourselves working long hours, demonstrating our dedication and commitment, looking for big raises in our wages.

We idealize a house, trips, tours, a car, who knows, a little boat.

Our days, weeks and months revolve around acquiring more to use more.

Naturally, since there is great cost in achieving all that, everything is carefully taken care of.

We care for the conservation of our homes, our beach house, our car, our jewelry.

However, generally speaking, there are valuables we don't really pay attention to, taking them for granted... until we loose them.

Thus, when death, as a natural law, surprises us, taking away our loved ones, we feel lost.

When we get home and don’t find a mess, the toys scattered; when we don’t have the daily necklace of two little arms around our neck, how sad is that!

We sit on the expensive couch, which we liked so much before, depressed. Our surroundings lost their meaning. The most valuable jewel is gone. The one that left a gaping hole in the safe of our soul.

The house full of crystals and tapestries rests cold and quiet.

What wouldn't we give to have the husband, again, arriving home, slamming the door, leaving the keys noisily on the table, and the sonorous voice announcing: I’m home!

Among many loves, a mom’s lap is even more precious. Priceless.

But so many times left aside because we feel like the owners of the world, winners, so sure of ourselves.

Yet, when the mom passes into the spiritual side, neediness and longing enter her children's hearts.

Possibly, no one translated these felling better than the orphan girl who drew on the floor the actual size picture of a mother.

After that, she lay down in the exact place where the lap of that mother would be, got comfortable and fell asleep.

Nothing more significant than the image captured by an agile photographer.

A mom's lap! What is it worth on the stock market?

A mom’s lap that nests, protects, conveys safety, well being.

A warm, loving mom’s lap. Nothing is like a mom’s lap.

A mom’s lap is priceless.

Let’s think about the preciosity that is a mother’s lap and let’s honor every day, with our affection, the one who said yes to life and allowed us to come to the world.

Let’s love this priceless jewel. Let’s enjoy a mother’s lap, always grateful, before death takes her away.

Because, then, only trough strings of thought can we have the fortune of meeting again, while we are still in blessed exiled on this Earth that the Lord God allowed us to habitat, growing towards progress.
