ícone We are the majority

Humanity never had so many people doing good things and loving each other as in our days.

At first, the sentence seems out of context and even out of our reality.

We have the impression that everybody is doing bad things, that few are honest, that people do not respect each other.

We watch the news, we read the headlines on the newspaper, and we hear people talking at work and on the public transportation.

Everything seems to point to evil, to damage others and to create difficulties.

However, what happens is that we hear half of the truth, or sometimes a tiny piece of the truth and, only with that, we conclude it to be the whole scenario.

What the news do not show are the thousands of anonymous heroes that ear their livings with an honest raising their children with responsibility.

It’s not on the news the parents watching their kids sleep just to make sure they are fine; supporting them with their homework and raising them with love and affection.

Few people talk about the mass of volunteers who dedicate hours and hours of their day to help someone, many times strangers, with their pain, difficulties and problems. And they do all that only for the pleasure of helping others.

We forget that if many people break the law, we never had so much legal protection for the kids, for the elderly, for the women and for other minorities of society, as we have today.

Even if many politicians still do not honor their jobs and their public missions, there are many public employees who work more than their contracts asks for, just for the ideal of making people lives better.

There is a bunch of researchers and scientist, dedicating their lives to solve problems, to shorten distances, to save lives, to offer comfort and the wellbeing to people.

They work hard in laboratories, using their intelligence and science, to find out something that benefits Humanity.

We forget the many physicians, teachers, and also street-sweepers and bricklayers, who execute much more than their mission and professional duty ask for.

There are many people who generously give away from themselves, who offer the best they can, to also contribute to a better world.

There are more honest people in the world than dishonest ones. There is more kindness in our heart than wickedness. There are more people doing good things than people damaging others.

So, when we look to our society, let us remember that we are not alone and we are the majority, those who are honest, who do good things and who are idealists.

We only seem to be invisible to each other.

We cannot see each other, but we all are doing our best so that the days, one after another, may become better and happier.

In that way, we must never give up on our ideal.

When we picture ourselves alone, all we have to do is look beside, and we will soon realize that we are a big majority, even a crowd those who make good, justice and peace in the roads of life.
