When we read about the lives of great missionaries of Humanity, many times we are surprised with their insights. It seems that, in the call of night, God approached these creatures and spoke to them, directing to them the actions of next day.

Therefore, in the current days of mush unrest, in which men show to have lost the ability to find time to reflect and meditate, we wonder:  Will God still speak to men?

We have heard of a young man who came to the study of the Gospel in the residence of a couple friends.

After saying good bye, while driving home, in his car, he began to wish to listen the voice of God. Inflamed by the reading and comments of the evening, around the Gospel of Jesus, he wanted to serve. But, how?

So, it seemed to him he heard a voice that came from his own intimacy: Stop and buy a liter of milk.

The young man gave no attention to it. The order was repeated in his mind. He smiled: God, is it You, Lord? Very well, God. If it is the Lord, I will by the milk. After all, it is not difficult.

Continuing on his way home, over the course of some street, he heard the order: Turn here.

The young man hesitated. What a strange thing was happening that night. Would it all be because of what he was thinking, after the words of the Gospel?

This is madness! He said to himself. But decided to obey.

The street was a mixed area of commerce and residences. You could not say it was a rich place, but neither a very poor one.

The commercial establishments were closed. Most of the houses had the lights off. On the other side of the street, a house with its lights on called his attention.

Go and give the milk to the people of that lighted house, he heard again.

How will I arrive at a strange house, knock and offer milk? They will say I am crazy.

Decided to obey, he crossed the street and knocked at the door. He heard a noise coming from inside, similar to the cry of a child. The door was opened, before he could turn around and vanish.

A man who appeared had a strange look and did not seem happy to see an unknown at his door.

The young man looked at him and gave the milk. The man, surprised, took the product. Entered, calling his wife.

Soon, a woman passed through the corridor with the milk towards the kitchen. The man followed her, holding on his arms a child who cried.

Later, he remembered the young man by the door and came back:

Sir, we have been praying a lot. We have many bills to pay. The money is over. The milk too. We have asked, intensely, to God to send us an angel with some milk. Are you the angel?

The young man opened his wallet, took the money he had in there and put it in the man’s hand.

He turned around, went to his car, while tears were running down his face.

God expresses Himself like this. In the intimacy of the creatures, during meditation, in the quiet of the nights, in the anonymous gesture that donates without asking, that helps without questions.

Exactly, as the day when Jesus was born, the Celestial Friend, God continues to speak to men of good will.

Happy the ones who listen and carryout His will on Earth.
