Do you remember the name of your first teacher?

Exactly, we almost never remember. But, surely, we do remember the names of our university professors.

And it is not by the fact that the proximity of our graduation. We remember because of the store of knowledge, by the experience and safety, within their area of operation.

We remember them because they shared our more arduous struggles, in order to achieve the so desired diploma.

We remember them because they were with us in the researches and particular orientations.

Also, because they were, often, those who have led us to our first internships, rehearsing us for a professional career.

Some guided us in our theses and monographs, so we would achieve the specializations that we hoped.

We have reason to remember them with gratitude. However, all their knowledge and experience would be in vain, if we have not gone up there.

And we have only gone up there because in our childhood, someone of extreme dedication opened up the possibility of reading, revealing to us the alphabet.

Someone who had enough patience to teach us to decipher the codes of writing. Who took our hand and traced the contours of the vowels and consonants, so that we could learn how to write.

This creature was our first teacher. While playing or resting after the hours of school, she focused on books chasing tales and stories to better illustrate the teaching on the next day.

While we slept, she was creating and making materials with her skillful hands. There were characters, pictures, panels to compose next class.

Everything so the study would appear attractive and the school conquered us.

We have grown. Today, when we read with fluency and even in other languages, possibly we do not remember the difficulties of the first moments.

After so many breakthroughs and years past, it is good to remember of our first teacher, the one who discovered the proper land of our inner richness and awakened it.

That one who taught us the precise sounds of the letters and how to join them, in order to form words. That one who gave us the basics of arithmetic operations, so that we could understand the concepts of quantity, weights, measures.

If you have kids in school today and feel emotional when he comes home, singing a little song or telling you a story, remember: there is a very special creature who is devoted in a very particular way to teach them many things, every day.

So, the next time that your child look at a sign or ad, in the middle of the street and starts spelling it, trying to unite the letters to form a word and you look back with pride, do not forget to remember the precious treasure that is the school.

More than that, do not forget to thank, once in a while, the teacher, for these little big achievements of your child.
