ícone Our weights

Do you sometimes feel like you were carrying the weight of the world?

Do you feel excessively tired, tormented, overloaded of tasks?

It is perhaps interesting to reflect a little bit about what has been leaving you so exhausted, almost disenchanted of life.

It is said that a lecturer took a glass, leaked it with water and lifted it up, showing to the audience.

Then, he launched the question: How much do you think this glass weighs?

The responses ranged from twenty to five hundred grams.

Well, completed the lecturer, the actual weight of the glass does not really matter.

What is important is for how long I have held it up. If I hold it for a minute, everything will be fine. If I hold it during the whole day, I will need an ambulance to help me.

The weight is the same, but the more I hold it, heavier it will be.

That means if we carry our burdens at all times, sooner or later we will not be able to continue.

The load will become increasingly heavier.

It is necessary to drop the glass, rest a little, before holding it again.

We must leave the load for some time, periodically. It relieves and makes us able to continue.

So, before you return to your homes, leave the weight of work on a corner. Do not take it home with you.

You may get it back, the next day.

There is wisdom in the words of the lecturer. Therefore, the Wise Man of Nazareth, more than two thousand years ago recommended: Each day has enough trouble of its own.

It is the same as to say we must know how to work on something that needs to be done, that requires all of our effort.

But that, after some time, we need to relax, rest, change the task.

The labor law establishes the computation of hours for the employee. Also the day of rest, the vacations.

In school, we have hours of studying, interspersed with breaks.

Let us think, therefore, and begin to act with wisdom. At work, let us be all engaged.

Having overcome the hours of physical and mental effort, let us get surrounded with pleasurable activities.

Let us seek home and live, intensely, with our relatives.

Observe your child in bed, the other who tries the first letters on the paper. Let us find out if everything is well. Let us talk.

Let us brighten the angry face, now it is family time.

And let us not forget the moments for prayer, for the good music, the noble reading, the one that redoes the intimacy, which relaxes the soul.

Let us start a volunteer job. Let us cultivate our garden. Prune the trees. Pick out flowers.

Let us wake up early and watch the sunrise. Let us get enchanted with the twilight.

In short: let us live each moment with all of our energies. Each moment, without taking with us unnecessary weights.

Let us think of Jesus: Each day has enough trouble of its own.
