It is not new the prediction that the world will end. The ancient cultures or recent doctrines, preachers of today or prophets of yesterday made heralds about the end of the world.

Some have predicted explosions and intense convulsions destroying immense regions.

Others, imagined large asteroids shocking with Earth, destroying the harmony of the planet in a way that, human life would become impossible, being totally vanished.

Some fanatic people have promoted collective suicide, anticipating the disaster which, they imagined, would be coming soon.

They were not a few the ones, who have set day, year, in the accuracy of the calendar that refused to accomplish the catastrophic forecasting.

Few, however, realized that the world has long been ending.

Where is the world where women had no social rights, they were forbidden of voting, could not go to school?

This world has ended, resisting only in some corners of ignorance and moral misery.

How to speak, then, of the world where letters would take months to reach their destination, where the news were few and rare, where everyone knew little and little was spread?

This world has also ended, being replaced by a better world, where technology gets us closer, benefits us, puts lights in the most distant places of the world, minimizing the pain and difficulties.

Analyzing like this, it is true that the world is ending. Not in the violent and definitive way as so many had imagined, not either irreversibly and overwhelming as other preached.

It is natural for human evolution that the world goes ending, so that another world is built, in the inevitable march of progress and improvement.

Even the war, the major natural catastrophe, the disasters are predicted in the laws of God so that the progress earns gait and the improvement happens for all.

In these days of transition we have been through, it is urgent that the world ends too.

But this world which must be extinguished is the world of violence that beats inside of us.

We have to help giving and end to the world of injustice, that many times, we have allowed happening under our eyes.

We must work together to the end of a world of iniquity, of inequality, hunger and misery that still extends by so many places and to so many people.

It is truly urgent that this whole world ends. And that a new world begins in our intimacy and, little by little, we can work together to make our planet earn other landscapes and other values.

Only this way it will come the day when we will look back these days that pass now and we will have the certainty that the world ended. And that in its place, a world of peace, harmony and justice is installed, for never-ending.
