ícone Jesus and us

It is undeniable that the History of Christianity is mingled a lot with the one of the western civilization.

It is impossible to recall these past two thousand years, without scrolling events of Christianity.

After all, it is the Christ Himself who shares the counting of time, in before and after His life in Earth.

And it is such a blunt His coming and passing between us, and it is of such strength His message, that He not only managed to divide the ground calendar, but also divided the life of many, in before and after the meeting they had with Him.

For some people, this meeting was personal, straight. After that, they have never been the same.

Peter was able to drop his fishing net to become fisherman of souls, as Jesus has suggested. Mathew, tax collector, gave his back to the world to count the heavenly riches.

Others have met Him in the intimacy of their psychic vision, with the eyes of soul, as Saul of Tarsus, on the road to Damascus.

After the meeting with Jesus, he gave himself up to His cause, not looking back, to his life before Him.

Francis, of bucolic Assisi, conquered the world by becoming the youngest brother of everyone. Teresa of Jesus, in Avila, won the roads in order to build houses for assistance on His behalf.

Juana Inés de La Cruz, in Mexico, abandoned her studies, the immense library, to serve the poor and miserable, in the name of her love to Jesus.

Teresa of Calcuta, in India, has built more than four hundred homes, on behalf of the cause of Jesus, in name of the love for neighbors.

The musician Albert Schweitzer abandoned his musical career and the work as religious speaker, to become a doctor, heading French Equatorial Africa, in order to experience love, with the brethren forgotten.

Chico Xavier, from the storey Pedro Leopoldo, was able to restructure lives and teach people how to follow Jesus, in the proposal of loving the neighbors.

Without a doubt, all these, and so many others, have given themselves and their lives to Christ proposal.

After meeting Him, they no longer thought about themselves, did not have any concerns with their lives, but, full of the most sublime love, they lived His message.

It is true that we still do not have the emotional resources and the moral greatness of those who make of their lives a hymn of praise to God.

However, there is nothing that prevents us from being capable to, little by little, start our journey in that direction.

Every time we stop thinking about ourselves to think about our neighbor; whenever we use humility, kindness, understanding instead of arrogance, of criticism and tyranny, we will be giving the first steps in that direction.

Starting like that, there will come one day when, similarity of Paul of Tarsus, we will also see that Christ lives in us, because we will be living in abundance the love that sustains the whole universe.
