We have registered a very interesting fact while watching a TV show.

A TV reporter was interviewing an ex-footballer that had played along with Pelé, Garrincha and other sport masters.

The interview was flowing on a very pleasant way, as the reporter conducted the conversation by drawing a parallel between football and real life.

At various moments, the footballer showed his good attitude towards life.

He was a role-model player, a faithful and dedicated husband as well as a loving father. He did not enjoy drinking or fooling around and was always loved by his teammates.

For each of these statements, the reporter would ask him: Why do you act like that? And he would answer: Because of my religion.

The values showed by the player caused very good impressions to whoever was watching the show.

His life example certainly brought about the curiosity of many people, as everybody was wondering what his religion was.

Lead by the general curiosity, the reporter then asked the so-expected question: And what is your religion?

To everyone's surprise, the ex-footballer firmly answered: My religion is that I do not have a religion. As I am sure my life will end at the grave, I want to leave a good image, to set an example for my relatives.

What really impressed us was his strong will for being an honoured, noble and dignified man, even though he believed his life would end at the grave.

We can say that his example shall be food for thought for those who profess a religion, who believe in soul immortality, who have faith in God, but unfortunately do not act as so.

Some people sincerely believe that the fact of following this or that religion is enough for them to have their future happiness guaranteed. For them to have a relevant position in the after life.

Nevertheless, we can surely state that what really matters for the Divine Law is not one's religious flagship, but the work one has done.

The Law of God will grant each one according to his or her work. Nothing more, nothing less. If it weren't this way, it wouldn't be fair. And God is the Supreme Justice.

Therefore, religion is a mean for reaching an end, so to speak the perfection of mankind.

If religions target at the soul, conducting it towards God, we can conclude that the best religion is the one that makes the largest amount of men of good faith, and the fewest of hypocrites.

Should a good-hearted person not wish to be connected to this or that religion, he or she will not be banned from entering the Kingdom of Heaven, once the Kingdom of Heaven is inside us and not outside us, as Jesus stated.

For that footballer, his own conscience was his religion. His conscience was his safe compass.

We can therefore conclude that more important than having a religion is being a man of good faith.

We do not mean that there are no - and there will not be - man of good faith within religions.

History has registered, and will keep registering, several good men in the religious sphere. Free men to love everyone, with no barriers nor prejudice.

The real good and free man understands that we are all children of God.

When we are capable of loving the others as much as we love ourselves, we will be accomplishing our objective on Earth.

A big family; a family that hugs more and is capable of respecting each one, regardless of their race, religion or social condition.

When love becomes the north of our lives we will no longer need to fight or kill in the name of God. We will be stronger to face other types of challenges. We will breath peace and union.

Try to be better today than what you were yesterday and even better tomorrow than what you are today.

Be a man of good faith, trying to do it right as much as you can, so that when someone asks you what your religion is, you can say: My religion is Love.
