ícone Peter’s task

Peter, the Apostle was chosen by Jesus with the task of guiding the other apostles in the dissemination of his Doctrine, after he was gone.

In the days that followed Jesus'crucifixion, the other Apostles would start charging Peter about beginning the task entrusted to him.

However, Peter did not feel deserving of the choice Christ had made. He realized how small he was. He had wronged and denied the loving Master. He questioned how he could, with all of his imperfection, be fishermen of men.

But he carried on, encouraged to take the love of Christ to all.

The disciples organized themselves, and divided into groups, so that they could travel to different places in order to disseminate the Good News to the different regions of the world.

From then on, Peter no longer rested. He started his journey of faith and love. Along, with other christians, he was persecuted and saw many of them sentenced to death.

Sometimes, he would find himself discouraged for thinking himself to be small and a failure. However, during these difficult moments, he would feel he was receiving support from Christ and the Superior Spirits.

He healed the sick and brought peace to many suffering hearts.

He taught that true faith is based on surrendering to God, while we are on our way, doing our part with confidence that everything that happens is in accordance with the Divine Will.

He showed that all of the teachings left by Christ should be shared with everyone, regardless of where they came from, their religion, race or culture and weaknesses that everyone carries within their souls.

He taught us that we are free once we know the truth. That, we only have peace when we live in accordance with what we truly believe in, being honest with oneself and with others.

He exemplified forgiveness as taught by Christ, reminding all that Jesus forgave even those who condemned Him, and even forgave Peter for having denied Him.

He showed us that many times, we do have fears and insecurities, however, when our faith prevails, we are filled with courage and motivation.

When he was tired and old, he saw Paul of Tarsus, the Great Apostle, being sentenced to death.

Peter devoted his life to solidify in the world, the Consoling Doctrine left by Jesus Christ.

Like Christ, Peter was also sentenced to death. Crucified, he died for love.

Peter had promised the Master that he would never deny Him, however, when upon doing it, he betrayed himself. He showed us that we all make mistakes, and that in many times, we adopt attitudes we thought we would never do.

We still don't know who we are completely. We have our principles and worth, but it is only when life comes to test us that we truly realize who we are, through our attitudes and the decisions that we make.

Even then, despite our weaknesses and imperfections, let us go forward, loving Jesus, seeking His inspiration, His examples, with faith and confidence that we are able to sow in the world, His peace.

Much like Peter, and many other great souls, let us too be an instrument of God in the dissemination of the Christian Doctrine.
