It is said that some ambitious man, after hearing about the extraordinary cures performed by the Apostles in Jesus' name decided to follow the Apostles.

For some time he accompanied them on pilgrimages. He had the opportunity to observe how the Apostles would raise their hands and heal people.

He witnessed the day that Peter went up to the temple to pray and cured a cripple from birth with a hug in the name of Jesus.

More than once he saw people being dominated by unhappy Spirits and being released by the Apostles in Jesus' name.

He noticed that they ate fruit, bread and fish. Nothing special. They were also not using any formula for healing.

However, he thought, they must have a secret. Who knows, maybe under the mantle they bring a hidden talisman?

Time passed and of course the Apostles could not help noticing that the man was always present in their preaching, observing and watching.

Thinking that it could be someone interested in becoming a follower of Jesus, Peter went up him and asked if he wanted anything in particular. Maybe he wanted to join the group to work for the good of Humanity, to serve and serve.

The man invited to speak by the kindness of the Apostle said:

I've been following your footsteps for a long time for one very simple reason. I want to learn the art of driving out the Spirits and curing diseases.

In fact what I want is that you sell me the amulet that accomplishes those things.

It doesn't matter the price. I am someone who can give assets in exchange for the talisman.

The Apostle told him that they had nothing but faith and what drove them in healing was the love for others. But the man insisted:

Do not lie to me. You have a talisman, a stone, something that allows you to invoke and subdue the Spirits of the dead.

I want to dominate them too and make them work for me. I want to be as powerful as all followers of the Nazarene.

And as the old Apostle explained that they did not have any magical object other than their virtues, their faith, their respect for Jesus, their reverence to God, the ambitious man became disillusioned and left.

He left cursing and saying that they were too selfish and wanted to dominate the world by not telling their secrets.

Sometimes we act as the ambitious man. We hope that the spiritual gifts can reduce our life fatigue and solve our difficulties.

However, the lessons of Jesus are clear. The laborer deserves his salary. And each one will be given according to their works.

The award of a Christian is to learn to be happy and achieve perfection. His riches are values such as friendship, respect, forgiveness, honor and duty.

His strength lies in the faith that moves mountains of difficulties and draws many by their examples.

His serenity comes from the understanding that everything that happens is fair and that all difficulties and setbacks are opportunities for progress and redemption.
