ícone Many gods, one Father

In Antiquity there were many gods.

It is enough to just check the mythology and, losing yourself in time, we may find a diversified series of entities called gods.

Since ever, men noticed that, beyond the physical realm, helping them through their efforts, there were beings from another dimension. And, as they could not understand the essence, they have conceived them with human forms and blamed them by their virtues and defects.

Thus, there were so many versions of the gods in charge of various missions.

Hearing the rumbling sounds of heaven, they imagined someone who was hitting on a large anvil with a huge hammer and it came up Thor, god of thunder.

On the ocean, which would beat them so many times, taking precious lives away, with their vagaries of undertow, huge waves, thunderstorms, put a being to which all would preside, capricious: Neptune.

And, because the days were succeeding, having nothing they could do to stop the time, they imagined a god that would preside to that equally:  Saturn, who ate his own children.

Noticing yet that their actions were backed for invisible beings, they start to give them names, and invoke them for their activities.

And there it came Hermes, gods of commerce; Apollo, god of medicine; Athena, goddess of wisdom; Venus, Diana, Eros, god of love.

For each activity, one protector god. But, above all, there was the god of the gods. Zeus, inhabitant of the Greek Olympus, called Jupiter, in the roman mythology.

These entities interacted with men and, as much as they cared about the heaven, the Earth and the ocean, they got involved in human activities, interfering, enforcing their will.

Later on, as they could understand a little more about the spiritual essence, religions emerged designing an invisible world settled by guardian angels and bad angels.

About them have spoken old philosophers as much as the fathers of Church, that has appeared in the IV century.

Looking at the distance, everything might seem strange and, in a few moments, even naïve.

But these are trues dressed by the understanding of the creatures from that time. We are surrounded by a cloud of witnesses, said the Paul of Tarsus, the Apostle.

They are invisible beings, the souls of men who have died, and surround us, from this other dimension to where they have gone, after the death of their body.

And they have virtues and defects, as men do, because the creatures do not change simply because they pass from one dimension to another.

They keep having interests for their beloved ones, assisting them in their needs, working in many ways because idleness would be the worst punishment.

According to the degree of development or inferiority which is situated, they deal with varied tasks.

Everyone has duties to perform. Higher beings receive God´s orders and contribute to the harmony of the Universe, executing celestial wills.

That is why men noticed their presence, since ever and sought to give them names and tried to find out their mission.

They were big pieces of the mirror of the truth which, little by little, have been joined and enlarged.

However, in all times, man has always understood that above himself, above all of these deities, all these spiritual beings, one will is supreme and governs.

One God, one Lord. Through the times and the through the nations, has called himself Zeus, Jupiter, Yahweh, Tupa.

When Jesus came he gave Him a name so we all could equally call Him: Father. Our Father.
