ícone Normosis

The word normosis was created in France by writer and lecturer Jean-Ives Leloup to refer to this form of behavior regarded as normal but which is in fact abnormal.

Carrying this concept to observe today's society we see that people are governed by standards set by someone or a group at some point.

For example, according to current beauty standards, being normal is being thin and beautiful.

To achieve this standard a diet is worth it, and every day there is a different one dictated by this or that celebrity who claims to have achieved the ideal weight in no time.

To achieve the ideals of that normality it is worth going to fitness centers with rigorous physical exercises, massages and everything else that can help to achieve the idealized beauty.

And then there are the surgeries to modify everything that can be modified.

The teeth are no exception, they must be perfect and white and for that they must undergo laser applications, porcelain and whatever else is needed.

It does not matter if something is bad for your health. The important thing is to be normal, which includes always being fashionable, wearing the clothes of the moment at whatever the cost.

Fortunes are spent with hairdressers, makeup, and beauty products.

Because you can not lose any party or an important event. That would immediately disqualify us as normal.

Obviously caring for our body, attention to our looks and our elegance is recommended. It is part of our evolution to cultivate good and beauty.

But the hype and the excesses have reached unacceptable levels.

One spends what one does not have, pretends what one is not, all with the objective of being normal... like others.

What standard of normality after all are we adopting? One that is totally physical, exterior, and temporary rather than the real values?

Is this what we want for our children and for tomorrow's Mankind?

Will we want humans that look squalid, bulimic, stressed and void of content?

We should think about it to prevent our children from becoming depressed and losing the opportunities to progress in life.

We are on Earth to gather wisdom, educate our mind, sweeten our heart, search for perfection.

Our minds learn by studying, reflecting, making efforts. The heart sweetens in the exercise of doing good to others, understanding that the differences exist to reveal the real beauty.

Let us invest in it. And instead of exhausting hours and hours of work to get more money to meet silly needs, let us reserve time for socializing with family and friends.

Let us reserve time for reading, nurturing ideas, for reflection in order to enrich ourselves.

Let us have time to watch the sunrise and sunset disappear in the horizon, to hear the symphony of rain on hot days, the appreciation of the earth for the water sipping eagerly.

Let us reserve time to love, to live, to be a human being of values, and to be happy.

Think about it.
