ícone The Dawn of Christ

An ancient legend tells that, after visiting Baby Jesus, those men from the East made a request to Anne, mother of Mary:

The child is only one day old, however, we have seen the light of our God in His eyes, and the smile of our God upon His mouth.

We proclaim you to protect Him, so that He may protect us all.

And as they said so, they mounted their camels and have never ever been seen again in those lands.

That boy grew up and, in His youth, He was already loved by everyone in Nazareth. He was different from the other children.

One time, when He was taken to bed, at night, by his grandmother, He told her:

Tell mMy mother and all the others that only My body will sleep. My mind will be with them till their minds come to My dawn.

The dawn of Jesus points in the horizon of upcoming days.

Even though we are not there yet, the sunbeams of His love already reach us, showing the safe way.

The Solar King has countless radiant emissions, which are the faithful workers of every hour.

He accompanies us, through victories and defeats, as a loving friend who looks after us from our headboard.

His mind unceasingly seeks for ours.

His heart embraces us in flows of joy, inviting us to daily renewal.

We forsake Him, whenever we lose ourselves in the recurring and seductive worldly concerns, but He never leaves us alone.

If only we learned to listen to Him… to notice Him at our side, smiling, supporting, advising…

Maybe we would think a little bit longer before acting with no foresight.

Maybe we would wait for our anger to subside before turning it into poison for ourselves and others.

Maybe we would make better use of the opportunities of life, when we are given the chance for charity.

Maybe we would choose being instead of having.

Maybe we would smile more, knowing that we have a great friend by our side.

The words spoken over two millennia ago are still up to date.

They were meant to all future generations, and thus He also makes Himself present among us all.

Whenever we feel alone, wondering which way to go, without the strength to carry on, let us remember the words of young Jesus to His grandmother:

Tell My mother and all the others that only My body will sleep. My mind will be with them till their minds come to My dawn.

* * *

        My dawn...

Is the dawn of plentiful life.

Is the quiet, noiseless daybreak, escorted by the birds of heaven bravely flying over the lilies of the field.

        My dawn…

Is a gentle caress on the sickly face of pain.

Is a loving embrace on the cheek of the miserables of the world.

My dawn, my first safe ray beams, have always been and will always be for you, My beloved on Earth.
