ícone The noblest profession

What would the noblest profession be? Who is more important: the doctor that saves lives or the bus driver who safely conducts hundreds of people everyday?

Who will have more merits before the Divinity? The educator who teaches kids the first letters, revealing the enchanted world of the alphabet, or the university teacher who prepares youngsters for the work market, for society, teaching them based on his own experience?

When we analyze the many professions that exist, we conclude that none of them can be rejected. At least not now, when we still live in a world full of afflictions and expiations.

Let us have a look at it: a writer uses his abilities to write books, which renew the world's thoughts.

His aim is to delight, to provide fantastic journeys into our imagination, using knowledge, art and beauty, bringing it all into our lives.

However, a simple brush brings the joy of cleanness. Without cleanness, the poet cannot work.

Agricultural ploughs revolve the earth to be cultivated. Soon after, the trenches on the soil will give corn, rice, potatoes and flour, filling barns up and supplying the tables.

A carpenter carefully works the wood and shapes it, which will help on house constructions.

A bricklayer builds walls, making foundations for the highest buildings. Organizing his thoughts and efforts, he makes phenomenal workmanships.

It does not matter how beautiful the building is, its marbles, crystals and luxurious carpets will always need a helpful hand from the cleaner to keep them clean and polished.

Magistrates use justice and punishment to give sentences. Lives depend on their sentences. Other lives will be filled up with happiness or sadness, depending on them.

Politicians orientate and govern, elaborate laws and vote, deciding what is best for the people.

However, they all need the skillful hands that operate the machinery used to weave the clothes they wear to protect themselves from the cold.

If judges gather around tables of peace and justice, farmers and peasants offer them the means to have these meals.

Nobody should believe that, before God's eyes, only the ones that use intellectual authority are important.

What would be of the human kind if we did not have cooks, receptionists, laundrywomen, housemaids and baby-sitters?

What would we do without this huge range of servers of Humanity ?

We are all called to fullfill God's work, in different ways.

Each worker, in his or her area, should feel proud of what they can offer. Every employer and every employee should be sure that the ultimate homage they can offer to the Creator is the proper execution of their job, it does not matter where they are or what they do.
