ícone Personal commitment

We should all have and keep the commitment of using all of our available time for our own moral and intellectual growth.

This growth is essential. The rest will be a consequence of our efforts in that direction.

However, a high number of people accommodate themselves in limited mental positions, in which they literally stay imprisoned.

Several people constantly repeat that they cannot drive, cook or play an instrument.

Others say they cannot learn this or that subject, and get happy simply for being approved, regardless that the real knowledge acquired was almost none.

A high number of citizens do not show interest for their own language, making basic mistakes without any concern, giving the excuse that communication is what matters.

The strange thing is that these people do not make any effort to break this panorama. They feel paralyzed by their own difficulties or laziness.

There are also those who promise they'll go back to school after retirement, not even knowing if they will reach that age or if they will be healthy enough to do so. It is just another way of accommodation.

Life is full of opportunities for all of us, with no distinction of race, country, or social class. Surely the opportunities will be different because of our different evolution stages.

The human mind is wonderful and with great learning capacity. It is the most perfect computer nature could ever produce.

It is very important for our individual progress and for our self-esteem that we try learning all that is worth it through our entire lives.

It is never too late to go back to studying those subjects not well learned or to re-start with dedication the study of something that appears to be unattainable, all in the attempt to overcome our limits.

It is never late to begin the habit of good reading, which, besides culture, teaches us with joy our mother language.

Develop your interest for good movies, for theater, for good music. Keep yourself curious and with an open mind, as you were as a child, serving as a role model for family and friends.

Do not forget that all that we learn today will serve us as the basis for future learning because knowledge is cumulative.

Only with the awareness that the speed of evolution is an individual decision, each one of us will be able to progress overcoming limits and valuing this beautiful journey called life.

Do not demean yourself. Trust your capabilities. Keep these teachings with you: Love others as yourself and God above all. Always keep on learning.
