ícone The bridge

The man walked along the arid road. The journey was long. Then he came to a spot he thought he could not go on.

There was a great chasm ahead. How could he cross it?

Desolated, he sat on the edge of the deep chasm.

What now? He looked to his right and saw the outline of a bridge at a small distance away from where he was.

Inebriated with joy, he walked to the bridge.

His strength came back and, satisfied, he walked safely over the chasm of bare rocks, thanks to the bridge.

There are many bridges in the world, some of which are famous. The Golden Gate, in San Francisco; the Presidente Costa e Silva, also known as Rio-Niterói; the Friendship Bridge, connecting Brazil and Paraguay; the Pont Neuf, in Paris.

They differ in width, length and architecture. All of them, nonetheless, unite two far away extremities.

Have you ever thought about becoming a bridge? A bridge between God and his creatures, between light and shadow?

A hyphen of light between pain and the precious medicine, between disheartenment and consolation, between hunger and food?

Hold out your hand and act. While many complain about distances, hold out your arms and create a fraternity bridge.

When many scream in the face of the reigning chaos, extend the bridge of organization and discipline.

Be a bridge between misery and dignifying work, inviting those who walk with you to engage themselves in useful occupation, ensuring bread and shelter,  the nobility in serving others.

Remember that between men and God, Jesus, the Divine Friend, still today holds His arms wide open, as He Himself said: Everything you ask the Father in My name, He shall give you.

Stephen, the first Christian martyr, became a bridge between Jesus and Paul, the Apostle, filtering Christ’s thoughts so that the epistles could translate the Master’s recommendations to the newborn Christian groups.

Chico Xavier turned his existence into a bridge between the visible and invisible worlds, lighting up souls and shortening the distances.

Following his example, bridges multiply in actions of men and women who forget themselves for someone else’s benefit.

Mother Teresa of Calcutta, Albert Schweitzer, Sister Dulce.

Not to mention teachers who create bridges between books and ignorance, unveiling the paths of culture.

Medium, server, friend, brother. Wherever you are, become a bridge of love, joy and service.

God lives, manifests and enlarges His love through His creatures.

Wherever you are, He will make Himself noticeable.

Allow others to feel Him through you, your actions, your words and expressions.

Think about it. But think about it now!
